The South African Social Security Agency released its final payment schedule, which also includes new payment values for October 2025 grantees. Payment largely constitutes the provision of very critical support to the needy, with the payment update slightly raising the permanent grant. Payment days, increased payment rates, and the list of qualifying persons: herein lies everything else.
SASSA Payment Dates For October 2025
This is the earliest October 2025 social grant payment ever; it was announced by SASSA without interference in the usual payment pattern. Thus, beneficiaries can withdraw funds at any paypoint or ATM and partner retail stores such as Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, and Usave.
The payment dates confirmed for October 2025 SASSA are given below:
- Old Age Grant: Thursday, 2 October 2025
- Disability Grant: Friday, 3 October 2025
- Children’s And Other Grants: Monday, 6 October 2025
The payment of R370 for Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grants will begin towards the end of the month-either between October 21 and 31, 2025. SASSA has since advised the payees to keep checking their payment status since individual payment dates may vary depending on banking information and processing times.
Updated SASSA Grant Amounts For October 2025
As of October 2025, a welfare adjustment of R10 on permanent grants is meant to offer South Africans some relief against the ever-climbing prices of goods. The new amounts, in ascending order, are as follows:

The increments represent the second phase of a two-phase increase highlighted in the 2025 National Budget to insulate low-income and vulnerable households from the outcomes of inflation and rising food prices.
