These developments come as the government continues to further enhance their financial assistance to the vulnerable households. Reason Behind Double SASSA Payments

Primarily, the October double payments are a result of back-end adjustments due to a few missed payment cycles earlier this year. It does happen that SASSA experiences a delay in processing payments of certain grants for particular cycles and thus is forced to give the recipients compensation in the consequent cycle. Who Is Eligible for Double Payments

You may be eligible for the double payment of October if:

  • Your previous month’s payment was delayed or not made due to a system backlog.
  • You are an SRD R370 grant beneficiary whose status was pending or approved for more than one cycle.
  • You are a parent or guardian under the Child Support Grant and did not receive the full set amount for September.
  • Not every grant may entail double payouts: only those who would have had some delays or any other unintended change would qualify for the dispensation.

When Will Payments Be Made in October 2025?

SASSA lends its assurance that the October payments will be maintained on their normal payment dates: 

  • Older Persons Grants: From Thursday, 2 October 2025
  • Disability Grants: From Friday, 3 October 2025
  • Child support and other grants: From Monday, 6 October 2025

Those entitled to double payments will be paid amounts as on whichever the date of actual payment is. Also, depending on the way you collect them, you may withdraw them from ATMs, retail partners, or post office pay points.
