R2,315 SASSA Pension October 2025: Full Payment Schedule For Seniors Released

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) officially announced the payment dates in the month of October 2025 for the aged benefitting from the so-called Older-Persons Grant or more commonly referred to as the SASSA Pensions. A slight increase to the payment was made this month in an attempt to offer slight relief to the senior citizens who are battling increases in food and utility prices. A full explanation of the payment dates, eligibility, and withdrawals is listed below.

SASSA Pension Pay Increased To R2,315 Effective From October 2025

The Older Persons’ Grant in SASSA is increased by R10 to pay a total amount of R2,315 per month for persons between the ages of 60 and 74, while for persons 75 and older, pensioners are now receiving R2,335 monthly.  This increase builds upon the undertaking of the Department of Social Development to have social grants reviewed on possible increases twice in one year to keep pace with inflation. Though small, this increase still offers crucial relief for seniors to obtain groceries, pay medical bills, or for transport.

Full Payment Schedule For October 2025

According to the agency, the pension payments will be paid early in the month for October 2025, so that other grant beneficiaries receive their payments later.

Older Persons Grants would be due for payment on:

  • Thursday, 2 October 2025: The funds would be released and paid to the pensioners through SASSA Gold Cards via SASSA bank transfers or through retail partners on the 2nd of October: Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, and Usave. Pensioners should be assured SASSA that the moment these funds appear in the retail stores and service providers’ systems, they remain open for withdrawal with no rush to the pay points on the day of release.

If any other grants tied with these happen to be paid on the same day, such as that for the Grant-In-Aid, both grants will reflect that day of payment within the amounts of the designated pensions.

Withdraw Your SASSA Pension

There are several easy ways for pensioners to receive their cash in full safety:

  • Direct bank deposit: Money is paid into the account of the applicant and may be withdrawn from any ATM in the country.
  • SASSA Gold Card: Used just like a normal bank card at ATMs or at designated retail outlets for cash withdrawals and purchases.
  • Cash pay points: Cash is paid in rural areas at the official mobile pay points.

SASSA advises its members against collecting any grants in cash from unauthorized persons, and to ignore SMS scams or any solicitation requesting their details.
