According to SASSA, a double payment is planned in October 2025 in respect of a few beneficiaries. This situation has arisen due to continuous amendments to national grant payment patterns and budget increases for relieving vulnerable citizens. R3,070 Grant: Summary
The R3,070 grant disbursement is a consolidation or elevation of payments due to selected recipients in October 2025. It is basically a combination of the recipient’s usual grant plus a double payment related to the backlogs in either:
- payments being backlogged for previous months, or (b) a top-up adjustment arising from the mid-year review of social assistance by Government.
- According to sources in the DSD: “These payments would be made as relief steps against inflation and the recent hikes in food prices and unemployment which have weighed down on the house-holds.”
Who Is Eligible to Receive the Double Payment of R3,070 SASSA Grant?
All are not likely to benefit in October unless certain double payments are specially issued to some beneficiaries. The beneficiaries who receive the double grant pay-out of R3,070 will be the ones who qualify under the special conditions elaborated hereunder. However, you would stand to qualify if you fit into any of the following categories:
- Delayed old-age grant beneficiaries or those due for back payment adjustments.
- Disabled grant beneficiaries whose temporary grant was extended and are now due for overlap payments.
- Child support grant beneficiaries and foster care grant pay-outs for arrears and system corrections.
- Grant-in-aid recipients unfairly delayed in September 2025 due to some technical glitches.
- In some cases, the double payout could also include a one-off top-up given by SASSA intended to cushion living costs before December.
SASSA Double Payout Schedule-October 2025:
Since SASSA makes different payments on a monthly basis, older persons, disability, and child grants are paid on different days. The schedule is as follows for the double payment, October 2025:
- Independent Persons Grant: Wednesday, 2 October 2025;
- Disability Grant: Thursday, 3 October 2025;
- Children’s Grants: Friday, 4 October 2025.
In case the double payment is due, the recipient will receive the two installments as a single payment in its direct deposit in their account or on their SASSA card. There will be no application process needed for such beneficiaries to qualify for second payments; they will be reflected once the first payment has been electronically processed.

To check their status of eligibility for the R3,070 double payout, beneficiaries have the following options:

- Make a call to the toll-free line 0800 60 10 11.
- Visit the nearest SASSA office showing your ID and your SASSA card.
- Make sure your banking details are updated and accurate, so there won’t be any delay in the processing of your payments.
Other Important Information:
Beneficiaries should not hurry to the pay points on the first day because it will be their choice to withdraw anytime till they want to withdraw.

Any suspicious missed or fallen payments must be reported to the official SASSA officers immediately.
