SASSA October 2025 Bonus Payout: Full Payment Timeline, Eligibility & Required Documents

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the October 2025 bonus payment to qualifying social grant beneficiaries. This bonus is intentional to help vulnerable citizens cope with the rising prices of food, transport, and other daily expenses. Additional payments will be made automatically with their regular monthly permit by the recipients; they are not required to apply for it.

Eligibility for the Bonus Grant

Not all beneficiaries will qualify for this special payment. SASSA says that eligible people should be existing beneficiaries, receiving a grant for at least three consecutive months before October 2025. The grants applicable are:

  • Old Age Grant
  • Disability Grant
  • Child Support Grant
  • Foster Child Grant
  • Care Dependency Grant
  • War Veteran Grant
  • SRD (R370) Grant

If an applicant’s grant is currently suspended, under review, or is newly approved in October, makes them somewhat less likely to get the bonus. Beneficiaries must also make sure their information regarding bank details and other personal information is up to date with SASSA.

Payment Date and Timeline

Come October, payments, including the bonus amounts, will be escorted along by the regular monthly payment plan of SASSA. The bonus will be paid along with the regular grant. The official dates for making payment are as follows:

  • Old Age Grant: 5 October 2025
  • Disability Grant: 6 October 2025
  • Child Support and Foster Grants: 7 October 2025
  • SRD Grant: From 10 October 2025 onward

Payments will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, their SASSA cards, or through approved cash pay points.

Bonus Variable for Grant Type

The bonus variable for grant types is as follows:

  • Old Age and Disability Grants: R500 bonus (Total R2,680)
  • Child Support Grant: R250 bonus (Total R780)
  • Foster Care Grant: R300 bonus (Total R1,480)
  • SRD Grant: R150 bonus (Total R520)
  • War Veteran and Care Dependency Grants: R500 bonus

This once-off bonus will be added to the normal payment for October.

What Beneficiaries Should Do

SASSA is asking all beneficiaries to confirm their personal details to prevent delays. In case there have been any changes with one’s banking or SASSA card details, they should visit the nearest SASSA office to get the details updated even before the payment dates. The agency further warns of online scams, stating that no agent or official can hasten your bonus being paid.
