An official payment calendar has been issued by SASSA for October 2025, where it details the various dates on which Older Persons, Disability, and Child Support grants will be paid out. Millions of South Africans take social grants for services and necessities such as food, transport, and healthcare. This has now given you the opportunity to know what dates of payments to expect, how you collect your grant, and what to expect for the month of October 2025.
October 2025 Confirmed SASSA Payment Dates.
SASSA continues with their usual October 2025 payment process, whereby grants shall first be paid to the Older Persons and Disability to avoid queues and congestion at pay points; each category of grant has a set date, and once payment has been rolled into the account, the monies remain there till the holder chooses to withdraw. Thus, official payment dates for October 2025 are, according to SASSA:
- Thursday, 2 October 2025, for the payment of Older Persons Grant;
- Friday, 3 October 2025, for the payment of Disability Grant;
- Monday, 6 October 2025, for Child Grants (Child Support Grant and Foster Care Grants).
- SRD R370 Grants shall be paid toward the end of the month, normally between 21 and 31 October 2025, subject to the verification of the applicants’ banking details.
New Grant Amounts For October 2025
In October 2025, following the mid-year review and budgetary adjustments brought forth, SASSA implemented a R10 uplift across all permanent grants. This offset should, in a way, help recipients to curb further difficulties resulting from food and transport prices increases arising from a deepening inflation.Below are the new grant amounts as from October 2025:
- Older Persons Grant (60–74 years): R2,320
- Older Persons Grant (75+ years): R2,340
- Disability Grant: R2,320
- Care Dependency Grant: R2,320
- Foster Child Grant: R1,250
- Child Support Grant: R560
- War Veterans Grant: R2,340
- Social Relief of Distress Grant 370
The money goes directly into beneficiary bank accounts unless it is loaded onto their SASSA card, or the cash can be collected at different retail outlets like Shoprite, Boxer, Pick N Pay, or Usave.
How To Collect Your Grant
Beneficiaries can use the following secure channels to withdraw their SASSA money:
- Direct bank deposit: Money is directly credited into the person’s bank account.
- SASSA Gold Card: Withdrawals can be done on ATMs and retail store tills through the Gold Card.
- Pay-point: Cash payments at pay points are made for those who do not have bank accounts located in all provinces.
SASSA discourages beneficiaries from mobbing the pay-points on the payment day or on the first day that payments are allocated because funds remain available for withdrawal. The move will help reduce traffic at the pay points and ensure a safer environment for the cash withdrawals.
