The Anti-Fraud Unit of South African Social Security will continue to extend financial assistance to the elderly in all parts of South Africa. The money-rents for the Old Age Grant for October 2025 will be paid to pensioners who depend on such grants as a means of livelihood. As the raises were gazetted early in the year, we anticipate the monthly payouts of R2,315 to be a fixed schedule as established by the provinces.
October 2025-Payment Date
SASSA has now declared that the disbursement of the Old Age Grants for October 2025 would commence on Thursday, 2 October 2025. Payments are done in this way thereof: Older claims being paid before they entertain claims from other categories. Beneficiaries may keep the funding in their accounts for some time after the payment is made; there appears to be no need to rush off to withdraw the cash right away.
Increased Grant Amount
The April 2025 adjustment of the social grants increased the amount of Old Age Grant to-R2,315 for beneficiaries between the ages of 60 and 74; and.R2,335 for beneficiaries aged 75 years and above.
This slight increase tells of yet a continued support effort by government wherever they could in shielding.
Complete Provincial Payment Schedule
Since provinces are treated as separate and different rollouts by SASSA, pay-point visits to the physical places may differ somewhat by Province. The Old Age Grant payment will be dispersed in the month of October 2025:
- 1. Gauteng: Bank and retail payments begin on 2 October 2025, while pay-points would operate in cash between the 3rd and 7th of October.
- 2. Western Cape: Transfers through banks clear on the 2nd of October while rural collection points operate at Cape Winelands and Overberg from 3-6 October.
- 3. KwaZulu-Natal: Electronic deposits will go to most beneficiaries on 2 October, while remote cash deliveries, such as those to Umkhanyakude and Ugu areas, will be done from 4 to 8 October.
- 4. East Cape: Payments will be conducted in urban centres like Gqeberha and East London between 2-3 October, with community pay-point operations between 6-9 October.
- 5. Free State: All payments for the SASSA card and bank payments will clear by 2 October even as mobile units visit smaller towns on 4-7 October.
- 6. Limpopo: Limpopo moves bank account deposits on 2 October with pay-point operations occurring in rural areas from 3-8 October 2025.
Methods of Grant Payments
The beneficiaries will be paid in the following manner:
- Direct deposits in bank accounts where the banking details are submitted and registered with SASSA.
- The SASSA gold card can be used for withdrawals at ATMs or for purchases at partner retail outlets such as Shoprite, Boxer, Checkers, and Pick n Pay.
- Through community pay-points for those who do not have banking facilities, as per the schedule indicated by provinces.
Advices That Beneficiaries Should Keep in Mind
- Keep your SASSA Gold Card active; it will remain valid beyond 2025.
- Do not give out PINs, ID numbers, or any information to anyone claiming to represent SASSA.
