The grant of R370 used to be fostered with a sub-category attaching to the SRD scheme, where an applicant is awarded on a monthly basis to a person temporarily in need of financial relief who cannot stand for any other social grant. October 2025 Payment Dates: What You Should Expect
With other workings-less-grants-payment-dates such as those for old age, disability, or child support, there will be no fixed payment date for this one. Instead, the payment is done toward the end of the month in a window period. The window period for the payment for the month of October 2025 is expected to be between October 20 and October 27, with the most commonly cited days being:

Biometric Enrollment & Fraud Prevention
Biometrics for new applicants began on 1 September 2025, fingerprint or facial scanning being the choice, to deter fraud. To date, over 42,000 clients have been registered in 432 offices.
- Bank Details & Payment Method: Beneficiaries are to check their bank details and records to ensure they are complete, correct, and verified. Thus, payment will be blocked and/or ceased when the said accounts are dormant and closed, or if in any case, not issued in the name of the beneficiary.
- Postbank or CashSend might be in use in some areas; however, there are potential delays should they run out of liquid cash or there are still administrative hold-ups.
- No Payment Day Will Be Set!: Because of being implemented within dispersion windows over the several days, the SRD grant should not have one universal payday expected to occur on the pay date.
- Cases where a beneficiary’s status reads “approved” but is not paid on the set date: banks still validating accounts; delays from the system; incorrect information given by beneficiaries.
- Appeals & Status Monitoring: If they get declined, the applicant may appeal within the stipulated period via the official SRD website.
Beneficiaries should continue to monitor their status through:
- The SASSA SRD official status portal (enter ID number + phone)
- USSD or online contact centres, where available
- SMS or E-mail alerts from SASSA, if one has registered.
What Beneficiaries Should Do Now
Check your status on the SASSA SRD portal to find out if you will be subjected to a payday.Make sure your bank account details are in the right and working order, and that it is in your name and has been properly verified. Look out for any SASSA updates or alerts. Especially if they ask for ID verification or the submission of documents. During the window dates of 20-27 October, be patient. Payments in the window will be staggered to ensure administrative efficiency. In case of denial, file an appeal immediately and resolve any inconsistencies.
