SASSA Reveals October and November Payment Dates – Check Updated Grant

Once per annum, SASSA, with a view to letting its beneficiaries plan accordingly, releases a calendar with all grant payment disbursement dates. Hence, potential beneficiaries are already aware of confirmed grant payment dates for the months of October and November 2025. Meanwhile, since that time, there have been certain rules and/or regulations relating to social grants. Therefore it will be wise for a grant recipient to remain abreast with new changes.

October 2025 Payment Dates for Social Grants

Early in October 2025, payments of social grants will be made, as usual, SASSA has announced.

  • Older Persons Grant (Pensions) – Thursday, 2 October
  • Disability Grant – Friday, 3 October
  • Child Support Grant & Other Children/Dependent Grants – Monday, 6 October
  • These would be the dates for payment of grants such as the Older Persons grant, Disability grant, War Veteran, Foster Care, Care Dependency, Grant-in-Aid, and Child Support.

Furthermore, SASSA had announced while incorporating these provisions into the annual budget that from October 2025, a R10 increase will be paid on many social grants.

Payment dates outlook for 2025 November

According to the 2025/2026 payment calendar issued, November grants would be paid from the 4th through the 6th of November. Hence:

  • Older Persons/Pension & Disability Grants – 4 or 5 November (depending on grant type)
  • Child Support/Other Grants – 6 November, 2025

Then, those dates coincide with the respect dates being, in most cases, at the beginning of the month when regular social grants are paid.

SRD/R370 Grant: For October and November Periods

Unlike other social grants, the payment schedule for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant- R370 grant in common parlance – is slightly different. Usually, between the 20th and the 27th of the month, the SASSA effect payments for this grant.

  • For October 2025, the SRD grant dates will be from 20 to 27 October.

It’s yet to be made official by SASSA when they would pay the November 2025 rounds; however, many entities are expecting that the second payment would occur towards the end of the month (say between the 25th to 30th November). Beneficiaries should consider those November SRD dates tentative until SASSA finally announces a definite payment window.

Some Very Important Updated Rules and Clarifications

  • No Suspensions During the Review : SASSA has commented on the ongoing reviews of social grants (to verify undisclosed income or assets). The agency has confirmed that grant payments would not be suspended during these review processes.
  • Means Test/Asset Limits : Means test/asset limits are still in force; however, they were last amended in April 2025. Beneficiaries must adhere to these rules or be outright disqualified.
  • Grant-in-Aid : Grant-in-Aid is not an independent payment; To be eligible, the beneficiary must themselves be in receipt of either an Older Person, Disability, or War Veteran’s grant, with the need for full-time care being medically certified.
  • No Monthly Reapplications(For SRD): Regarding the SRD/R370 grant, SASSA has confirmed that applicants don’t need to apply each month, unless their circumstances change. This would only lead to unnecessary delays in processing.
  • Verification and Fraud Prevention: SASSA is increasing verification mechanisms, such as biometric verification and document verification, to prevent fraudulent claims. Beneficiaries may be asked to verify their identity or to update their information in order to remain eligible.

What Beneficiaries Should Do

  1. Make a note of confirmed grant dates for October and November.
  2. SRD beneficiaries should anticipate payments somewhere between the 20th and 27th of October and watch closely for official payment dates in November.
  3. Make sure all your personal information (bank details, identity documents, and contact information) is up-to-date and accurate with SASSA.
  4. Payments will not be suspended if under review.
  5. Don’t reapply for the SRD unless you have to; this may delay the processing of your claim.
  6. Respond swiftly to any verification requests so your grant payment is not placed on hold.
