In October 2025, senior grant recipients in South Africa will not get any bonus payment in addition to the regular increase, which has been confirmed by the government. What is the R10 increase for?

The grant amounts for the existing recipients will be updated automatically.

- Older Persons (60–74): from R2,180 to R3,230 (new amount including uplift)
- Older Persons (75+): from R2,200 to R3,250
- Disability, Care Dependency: from R2,180 to R3,230
- Foster Child: from R1,180 to R1,230
- Child Support: from R530 to R550
These new amounts are all-inclusive of the standard uplift which is applicable for everyone.
Who Gets the Increased Grants
Only current grant holders who are SASSA eligible will receive the benefits. The main conditions are being a senior citizen (60 years or older), having a legal residence in South Africa, and not exceeding the low-income threshold in terms of income and assets. The enhancement is not granted to persons who are not beneficiaries—rather, it is for those already receiving grants that qualify.
