SASSA SRD R350 Grant October 2025: Full Payment Dates, Status Updates & Eligibility Guide

Introduction of the SRD grant was coined as an emergency relief with the aim of supporting those without incomes generated by COVID. The initial payment was R350 per month solely aimed at providing for the basic needs of the unemployed while more firm foundations for economic stability could be laid. Later, the payable amount was increased (to R370, for example) and the structure redefined.

The period preceding October 2025 has seen renewed interest in the exact dates, eligibility criteria, and pay-out schedule for this grant, as many beneficiaries still cling to its R350 nomenclature.

October 2025 Pay-Out Schedule for SRD

The October 2025 pay-outs are expected to take place towards the end of the month, generally between 24 and 30 October (only business days). SRD is different from the other social grants in that payments are never supposed to be cleared on a single day. They are in fact cleared in batches, allowing certain beneficiaries to receive their funds on any day within the pay-out window. If not processed, funds would usually take 2–3 business days to clear into accounts or be available at pay points.

If You Do Not Get Paid on Time

If you have not received your SRD payment at the end of the expected window plus a few days, do the following:

  1. Check the status of your application on the official SRD status portal (srd.sassa.gov.za)
  2. Verify if your banking details and contact information reflect your identity and are currently active
  3. Call the SASSA helpline or your nearest SASSA office to report your non-receipt
  4. Be on the lookout for any public announcements made by SASSA about delays or problems in processing

Because payments are distributed in batches, delays are usually the order of the day—so a little patience helps.

What Changed and What Remains

Beginning October 1, 2025, a R10 increase shall be made to a number of main social grants (Old Age, Disability, etc.). The SRD base amount (commonly referenced in the past as R350) had since been adjusted, so new applicants might see R370 instead of R350.

This makes it important for any applicant or beneficiary for SRD to check what the current amount is officially, instead of clinging on to some past references.

What Should You Do Now?

  • Make sure that your ID, contact, and bank info are up to date with SASSA
  • Watch your SRD status through the portal beginning mid-October
  • If the funds do not come through after the anticipated window, lodge a query right away
  • Keep an eye open for any official announcements from SASSA or a policy change
